Through The Viewfinder and What Alice Found There
This mother's day I went out for the afternoon with my mum, sister and our family dog Dexter. We drove to Williamson Park in Lancaster for a walk around the park and Ashton Memorial. I visited here in February last year and the weather on this years visit was surprisingly similar - sunny but chilly! When we arrived we headed straight to the cafe because we were all starving! Luckily we got a table outside so we could sit and eat lunch in the sunshine which was nice. I had the pesto and mozzarella ciabatta - it was so tasty!
After lunch we set off for a walk around the grounds. On our last visit we spent most of our time inside the butterfly house so we didn't get to explore a lot of the grounds - as dogs aren't allowed inside the buildings it gave us chance to have a proper walk around this time. The park is a lot bigger than I had realised with loads of different winding paths going all over the place!
We wandered around some of the paths then headed over to the memorial building for some photos on the steps. Again, we couldn't go in with Dexter so I think I'd like to go back again to see what it's like inside. We didn't go in last time either as it was shut for some maintenance work - it's supposed to be lovely inside and is quite popular for wedding ceremonies so hopefully I'll get to go in there one day! We then decided to follow a path taking us through some woodland which was a really nice walk and a lot quieter away from the main park. We also found a pretty lake with a bridge over the top which none of us knew was even there!
Overall a lovely walk with stunning views - will definitely be going back again!
