And What Alice Found There
As many of you will know by now, I have spent the last 4 years studying photography at the University of Huddersfield, and a few weeks ago my journey as a student finally came to an end. There have been moments throughout uni when I've been close to giving up - in a creative degree like photography, it can be hard hearing constant criticism about your work, even when you know deep down that your tutors are telling you these things to help make your work stronger at the end of it all.
However, I'm pleased to say that I have made it through and have now successfully graduated with a FIRST CLASS HONOURS!! A very unexpected result and one I was truly thrilled with! I had no idea I could achieve such an amazing result and it just shows that all the hard work, battles with heavy equipment, frustration when things weren't going right and all the late nights spent editing were all worth it in the end...
On top of gaining my degree, I have also been awarded the Deans Award for Creative Practice (read more about this in my Exhibition post), gained professional recognition as an Adobe Certified Associate in Photoshop, gained a Licentiateship qualification with the BIPP and to top everything off...I have recently been asked to exhibit my final year project at this years Pingyao International Photography Festival in China! What an amazing few months this has been for me and a huge confidence booster!
A quick thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am now - my family and friends for all your valued support over the years, my tutors for every bit of advice you've given me, my wonderful housemates for staying up late with me in the evenings to try and keep each other sane, and everyone who donated to the exhibition and came along to see the work!
Now that all the excitement of uni is starting to wear off, it's time for me to enter into the real world as an official working adult. Keep following my blog to stay up to date with my latest travels, progress with my Wainwright fells challenge, and of course to hear any news on recent weddings / new photography ventures...
